Health, Infection Prevention and Control, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Action Nord Sud Rwanda has a wide range of activities in the field of health, infection prevention Control (IPC), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) throughout the country, and in particular in the Districts of BURERA and RUTSIRO.

• With funding from Global Fund through the Ministry of Health, Action Nord Sud Rwanda was a recipient of funds for capacity building and involvement of civil society organizations in the fight against HIV (Single Stream of Funding for HIV &AIDS /GF Project). Activities were implemented in Kigeyo, Kivumu, Nyabirasi, and Ruhango sectors in RUTSIRO District. More than 3,000 families were beneficiaries

• With funding from UNICEF/ WASH project and the French Cooperation, activities to improve the conditions of pedagogical supervision and hygiene have been carried out in schools of BURERA district: sensitization of children to personal hygiene and classrooms, construction of latrines and rainwater harvesting tanks in 13 elementary schools with more than 12,000 children, as well as the distribution of mattresses to APADEC BURERA SCHOOL.

• Collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Rwanda Biomedical Center in the framework of the prevention and fight against EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE (EVD) and COVID-19 National Preparedness and Response. Action Nord Sud Rwanda provided MUKASHEMA CHRISTINE as a specialist in Infection Prevention and Control. The scope of work covered all Districts (Hospitals and health Centers). Doctors, Nurses and Midwives were trained while conducting IPC assessments and mentorship.
